Areti has long been an advocate for civil rights. She developed a niche practice in unemployment insurance law at Fabian May & Anderson PLLP and worked on consumer class action cases at Nichols Kaster PLLP before opening Harmony Law Firm. She has also worked as a legal advocate for battered women.
Areti is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, teaching the Employment Law Clinic. She is Co-Chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the Hennepin County Bar Association, and a board member of the Employee Lawyers Association of the Upper Midwest.
Areti earned her B.A. in Women’s Studies, magna cum laude, from Brown University. She graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. She served as Executive Editor of Law and Inequality: A Journal of Theory and Practice, and she published an article on the detention of immigrant youth in America. After graduating from law school, she was privileged to clerk for the Honorable Lloyd Zimmerman in Hennepin County District Court.
